    Harassment Claims Checklist

  • Do you have a written policy and procedure (P&P) regarding harassment claims?

  • Is it disseminated to all employees through an employee handbook or manual, or conspicuous posting?

  • Does the P&P define sexual harassment, and other form such as gender, race, religion, disability, or age harassment?

  • Does your P&P remind employees that harassment and hostile environment issues are specifically referring to legally impermissible behavior, not to allegedly unfair or abusive bosses?       

  • Are all managers trained in how to handle complaints of harassment?     

  • Does your P&P refer to a specific person who is the responsible manager to investigate harassment claims, and

    does this reference include his or her phone number and e-mail address?

  • Is it your practice to document, in detail, the prompt and thorough investigation of a harassment claim?
